IS HOMEOPATHY?
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that is entirely
natural. It is complete because it can be applied to any condition or
disease and it is natural because it works by stimulating the body to
heal itself. Homeopathy works on the basis that given the right stimulus,
the body can overcome virtually any disease or condition.
All symptoms of an illness are the body’s attempt to restore itself
to health. So, for example, instead of taking an analgesic like Paracetamol
for a headache or flu, your Homeopath will select a remedy to stimulate
the body in the direction it is already going so the symptoms are speedily
and naturally resolved. However, Homeopathy is an individualized and
exact science of healing which means that, for example, three patients
suffering from hay fever or eczema may well receive quite different
remedies.

Homeopathy can be used by anyone of any age, for most physical
and emotional complaints. It can also help where other forms of medicine
find the symptoms too vague to treat but you know something is not

ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF HOMEOPATHY?
Conventional medicine often attempts to control the problem through
regular use of drugs, a good example being asthma. The problem is that
if the drugs are discontinued the symptoms return because there has
been no cure. Homeopathic remedies encourage your own body to heal itself
naturally without suppression of symptoms because it treats the person
not just the disease.
Homeopathic medicines are easy to take, pleasant to taste, non-toxic
non-habit forming, safe, natural and not tested on animals (only human

IS THE TREATMENT LIKE ?
The initial consultation is usually one hour during which you
will be asked many questions about yourself, past illness, your lifestyle,
your family (even your grandparents!) and your current complaint.
Remedies are prescribed in the form of pills, tablets and liquids. Usually
for babies a liquid potency is used, small children are given quick
dissolving tablets and pills are used where several tablets need to
be taken over a longer period of time.

WHAT
ARE THE MEDICINES ?
Homeopathic medicines are called ‘remedies’. They are drug products
made by licensed Homeopathic Pharmacies. The substances used may be derived
from plants, minerals, animals or even chemical drugs such as penicillin.
These substances are diluted to infinitesimal quantities. Clinical experience
shows that the infinitesimal dose is effective; it works upon unconscious
people, infants and it even works on animals.
WHAT
CAN YOU EXPECT FROM A HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE??
Patients often feel a sense of well-being and optimism after taking
a remedy. It occasionally happens that your symptoms may appear a little worse
for a short period of time. This is a good sign! It shows that the remedy
is working and within 24 or 48 hours things should start to improve as your
body responds to the treatment.
